Agility highlighted in its 12th annual Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index that Malaysia is among the top ten attractive countries to logistics providers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, air cargo carriers, and distributors.
It said China, India, and Indonesia are the world’s top emerging markets. But 1,200 executives of the logistics industry surveyed for the Index showed little desire to uproot China or other markets.
More respondents, chose Vietnam as a preferred production hub than any other nation (19.6 per cent). However, China and Vietnam were virtually alone in the world in 2020, posting positive gross domestic product growth for the year after being hit early by the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic fallout, Agility said.
The Index ranks 50 nations by variables that make them attractive to suppliers of logistics, freight forwarders, shipping lines, carriers of air cargo, and distributors.
According to the Agility Index, the region is the region that more respondents think will recover from the global pandemic by the end of 2021. The area is on track to recover fully this year and will continue to improve its infrastructure and capabilities in the supply chain.
The report further said, China, India and Indonesia rank highest in the Index for domestic logistics across 50 countries. The best business fundamentals are in the UAE, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, it said.
