FedEx Celebrates 30 Years in Malaysia with Sustainable Tree-Planting Initiatives
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, marked its 30th anniversary in Malaysia with a series of tree-planting initiatives.

Aligned with its core values of community engagement, 100 FedEx volunteers joined forces to plant 100 tree seedlings in Desaru, Johor Bahru, and Balik Pulau, Penang. These activities underscore FedEx’s commitment to fostering a sustainable planet. By conserving and rejuvenating Malaysia’s natural heritage in a designated wildland in Johor Bahru and establishing a food forest and seed bank to promote sustainable food production in Penang, FedEx actively supports community projects striving to create a better world.

Tien Long Woon, managing director of FedEx Express Malaysia, said, “Our dedication to Malaysia over the past three decades extends beyond supporting FedEx’s business interests in the country. We actively engage in initiatives that address the needs of local communities. Our commitment to environmental preservation is integral to this effort.

“We are grateful for the warm welcome we have received as part of the Malaysian community, and this tree-planting initiative is our way of giving back to society. We remain committed to connecting customers in Malaysia with global opportunities in responsible and sustainable ways, while contributing to a more environmentally conscious future.”

In 1993, FedEx introduced direct services to customers in Malaysia. The company expanded its services by launching transpacific next-day service for Penang in 1997 and establishing a facility in Batu Kawan in 2020 to enhance its network and meet local customer demands.

Presently, FedEx employs over 1,700 team members and continues to support businesses in Malaysia, ranging from startups to international corporations, by providing international express delivery services and cutting-edge digital shipping tools. The FedEx team in Malaysia is also taking steps to support the company’s sustainability goals, including the introduction of electric vehicles into its Malaysian fleet as part of ongoing efforts to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable logistics.
