Diolko, a leader in sustainable last-mile delivery solutions in Southeast Asia, has hosted Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport, and Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah, President & Group Chief Executive Officer of Prasarana, at its headquarters for a site visit.
This visit underscores Diolko’s critical role in the advancement of sustainable logistics solutions, which is indicative of the government’s dedication to sustainability and the changing transportation landscape of Malaysia.
During the visit, Diolkos showcased its innovative end-to-end delivery process, highlighting the use of proprietary trolleys that seamlessly integrate with urban rail systems to facilitate product conveyance. Diolko is the first solution of its kind in Southeast Asia, and it uses existing urban infrastructure, such as public transport, to provide eco-friendly and efficient services while simultaneously addressing traffic congestion and carbon emission concerns.
A pilot program that Diolko implemented in partnership with Prasarana from July 2024 to January 2025 further illustrates its dedication to urban logistics revolutionization. This initiative incorporates the rapid KL rail systems at major stations, such as Putra Heights (LRT Sri Petaling Line), Ara Damansara (LRT Kelana Jaya Line), and Awan Besar (Sri Petaling Line).
Diolko provides a delivery service that consistently surpasses customer expectations by capitalizing on the high frequency and capacity of public transport. The integration of virtual hub technology with electric vehicles facilitates the efficient management of large volumes of products, reduces customers’ carbon footprints, and achieves sustainability objectives.
Currently, Diolko has a monthly capacity of 2,500 parcels and intends to increase this to 75,000 within the next six months. The company can expand efficiently in response to the increasing demand due to the station setup’s seamless replication capabilities.
“While transport is a significant contributor to carbon emissions, it is also a necessity for daily life,” Loke said noting that when public-private partnerships support solutions like Diolko’s, the transport sector becomes more sustainable.
Yoann Gueguen, CEO and Co-founder of Diolko said: “Our journey began in Klang Valley, where we capitalized on the region’s robust public transport infrastructure to create a sustainable and efficient last-mile delivery solution.
“We are proud of the substantial progress we have achieved, which has enabled our clients to reduce their carbon emissions by a collective 70% and alleviate urban congestion.”
Yoann added that the company plans to extend the innovative model to other cities in Malaysia and across ASEAN. This model has the potential to revolutionize sustainability and efficiency in urban areas.
Diolko’s success is contingent upon its strategic partnerships with e-commerce platforms, e-fulfilment providers, and significant brands that are in alignment with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives. By fostering the adoption of sustainable last-mile solutions, these partnerships benefit the environment, consumers, and businesses.
