Global logistics tech company GoGoX, celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year with presence in 360 cities and a fleet of over 6 million registered drivers across Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam and India.
In less than a decade the Hong Kong based company has revolutionised the business of hiring vans to transport goods by connecting drivers and their customers through its mobile app that seamlessly connects over 30 million registered shippers with its fleet of registered drivers and has broken the traditional stranglehold of third-party call centers on logistics in Asia.
“Over the past decade we have seen the importance of the role of technology in pushing boundaries, increasing productivity and helping us cater to changing consumer needs. GoGoX has always placed technology as one of the key pillars of our business and we are excited to continue to work on innovations that will drive the logistics industry forward,” said Steven Lam, CEO and co-founder of GoGoX.
Key Milestones and Attracting Talent
Apart from being listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) in June 2022, GoGoX has been rolling out other initiatives in line with its technology goals over the past few years.
One of these partnerships in August this year was between AXA Hong Kong and Macau which saw the co-creation of a new technology platform model combined with insurance that provides comprehensive and tailored coverage to GoGoX users, including driver partners, individuals, and business users. Earlier in April, GoGoX launched the AI Community Learning Lab in Hong Kong to provide tailored courses for underprivileged children.
A key focus area of GoGoX has also been growing its diverse talent pool and reaching out to the younger generation (Millennials / Generation Z) by changing misconceptions about the logistics industry such as an industry lacking innovation or having career limitations. Recently in September, engineering students from Stanford University undertook internships with GoGoX to learn more about the role technology has to offer in logistics.
“Raising awareness about the vast range of roles in logistics is key. Many are unaware how this industry is being revolutionised and how technology has evolved job scopes. Separately the logistics sector needs to foster a culture of innovation and digital transformation to attract young talent. By doing this, it can position itself as an exciting and rewarding career choice for the next generation of logistics professionals,” said Eugene Lee, COO of GoGoX.
Today, GoGoX has more than 1000 employees across our markets, ranging from roles in warehouse management to data analytics. As a company with an Asia Pacific footprint, GoGoX has also created cross-border roles with opportunities for employees to work in different markets.
The Next 10 Years
The size of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Contract Logistics Market is US$231.2 billion in the current year and is anticipated to register a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of over 5% over the forecast period. According to a McKinsey report[1], in both GDP and e-commerce logistics, Asia is expected to recover faster from the economic effect of Covid than the rest of the world.
“We are optimistic about the logistics industry, particularly in Asia, in the coming year and will be more focused on solidifying GoGoX’s presence in markets that we are in. Another area we have our sights on is autonomous delivery. While the use of autonomous vehicles in the industry is still in its infancy, at GoGoX we can clearly see how it will transform the supply chain in the near future given how it can improve efficiency by shortening delivery times, lowering costs and reducing carbon emissions,” said Lam.
